I did everything you said on your "You must read this page first", but it's worst now than before! My computer freezes or restart when I'm on Internet and when I start Winamp...

Very happy to here from you!
The problem is still happening but it looks like Mozilla is not corrupted. It's when I'm on Explorer or Winamp that the computer freezes or restart very quickly. Since 2 days, even if i don't do anything, the computer restarts (only msn and Ewido were open when it happened, as I know...).
So, tell me the truth doctor, is it hopeless?

Hello GeorgesGershwin ;)

No your not hopeless :tazz: and actually theres not much in your log.
Lets get rid of Some stuff and see if your problems persist.

Please print these directions out

Please update Ewido. don't scan yet

Download and install CleanUp! Hereor here CleanUp!Dont use it yet

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [version] C:\WINDOWS\system32\Cumntr.exe
O16 - DPF: {88D758A3-D33B-45FD-91E3-67749B4057FA} - http://dm.screensave.../sinstaller.cab

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Using windows explorer( right click start, left click explore)
Search for and delete these files and folders (If found)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Cumntr.exe

Now run the Cleanup program.

Scan with Ewido and save the log

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Well, thanks for your help doc!
So, I did what you wrote and anything was fine till the finding of the file (but it seems to be normal)... and the scan by Ewido: the computer freezed at 13,5% of scanning!
:tazz: If you'he got an idea... it will be welcome.

So, here I am... And here is my HiJackThis log:

Try to run this scan ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here with a new hijack log

If you cant do this Start Hijack This and go into the Config option, and then click on the Misc Tools button at the top.

You will then click on the button labeled "Generate StartupList Log". Once you click that button, the program will automatically open up a notepad filled with the Startup items from your computer. Copy and paste these entries into a message and submit it.

:tazz:

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Reboot and Please download SilentRunners from here:
http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.zip
Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, it will create a logfile on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Thanks

we are going to run System File Checker, to make sure all of your protected files are not corrupt. The scan will automatically replace any corrupt files that it finds.

Click Start
Select Run
At the prompt type sfc /scannow Please note that there is a single space between sfc and /scannow.

Typing this will start the program, and a box should appear telling you how much longer the process should take.

Sometimes the scan will prompt you for your Windows XP disc upon starting the scan. if this happens please make sure that you can view protected files:My Computer
Tools
Folder Options
View
"Uncheck" Hide protected operating system files.
Then rerun the scan. If this still asks you to put in your windows XP CD, and you do not have the CD (If you bought it preinstalled) post back for more tips, otherwise enter Windows CD.

Once the scan is complete:

Check your Windows Updates! After using the File Protection Service, you might need to reapply some updates.

Please reboot, and let me know if anything has changed.

Also, please rehide the protected files:My Computer
Tools
Folder Options
View
"Check" Hide protected operating system files.

I tried to run the process but, as you said, it asked me to insert the cd-rom of Windows XP. And I haven't got one. I bought my computer with the os...
Please, have you got another idea?

Hey Doc :tazz:

Do you get any kind of error message and if so can you tell me exactly what it is?
Did you install new hardware or software around the time your computer started Freezing?.
Has this been getting progressively worse?

I'm going to ask around and see if im missing something.

Thanks

Thanks for your answer!

In fact, I've got varieties of error messages on Explorer (when i'm connecting Real or when, using Hotmail, it asks me to install the photo manager...: it freezes or quit after a message error with letters and numbers... ;)

I think it happens when I installed a Winnamp update (not the last one but the one before) but... I installed lots of stuff in the same time: fuc.... iPod and iTune softwares (that don't work... the iPod neither!!!), Bittorrents musics and no-CD games patches...

In fact it's better now than when I posted my first HiJackThis log, but the OS is still unstable and it's boring when you're not sure the doscuments you're working on will be closed or freezed...

So as you see, I think I'll have to reinstall Windows. My computer shop (where I bought mine) said it's possible for them to reinstall Windows... because me, I'ven't got the Cd.

I think it will be the final solution... ;)

Anyway, I want to thank you a lot! You did your best and you were very quick in your answers. I'm going to see how Paypal is working to give you a good "tip" for your help.

So thank you very much, master, and good luck for your fight against malware! :tazz:

You're very smart, master loophole...

It it can help you, here is an error message that appears when, on IE, I try to view a windows media teaser (for example) (and the translation is mine so, be imaginative): "The instruction to 0xe8505100 uses the memory address 0xe8505100. The memory can't be "read". " After that, I could hit ok or cancel and it leaves the application.

And, quite sometimes, when I'm on MSN trying to connect hotmail, my computer restarts. And it seems to be worse if my computer has just starting since one or two hours (If I don't shut him down, it seems to be less unstable).

Please, what do you think of that?
