I am building my first computer but I dont know what to get for a decent motherboard or what amd processor (I am looking at a XP2400+) to get either.
and I want to get an Ati Radeon 9800pro good Idea or bad?

I am on a budget of about 1,000$ and I am trying to make a gaming computer.

I like the motherboards based on nVidia's nforce2 chipset. I prefer ATI and ASUS, just because I've had the best success with them, and they offer decent support.

what should I look for in motherboards (I dont know anything about them really)

something that will support a higher quality of ram (pc2700, 3200, 4000) and will allow you to add up to atleast 2-3 gig, also i would recommend spending a litttle extra and get the 2500+ processor and overclock it to preform like a 3200

well when you get your computer we can help you but what you would do is in your bios you would slowly increase the voltage to your processer and tweak it so it runs at a higher preformance- admin can help you much better on that then i can
