The short answer? No, a hacker will not be able to steal your money by simply hacking into your website.

However, if you don't completely understand website security, and regulations that come with storing personal information, please use a 3rd party service. For example: http://www.shopify.com/

Assuming your payments are going to be made through Paypal. Only thing you should be worrying about is security of your Paypal account. The point is, as @admin said, that hackers can't steal your money by simply hacking into your website. Except, of course, if you are not keeping your login credentials in plain text or anywhere on your website.

The best thing if you have zero experience with this, is to hire a professional to do the job for you :)

Excuse me for butting in but what if the said hacker gains access to the site and then changes the paypal page/link to a cloned paypal page that just steals your details that's possible and in a way would be stealing your money and credibility.
