I think to be safe, I will keep this machine isolated from the internet. No DNS and no gateway. It only needs a static connection to our NAS to get its operating data and that is it. No browsing, downloading, updates - NADA. 

 

should probably do a scan just to make sure it did not pick up anything from before....

 

Still cannot believe that was the fix. Stunned at the strange behavior having me running in circles.
