In that case it's probably necessary to Uninstall Office 2003 and then reinstall again.

 

Because Office 2003 is old and released before Windows 7 make sure you right click the installation setup file and select Run As Administrator.

Oh dear sleepydude, i am digging myself into a deeper hole...

i uninstalled the 2003 version to start again, but i could not find the bogus 2003 copy that i had, but i did find another 2007 version that is also bogus, (didnt know i had it) from the paperwork with it, it state that it is supposed to be able to allow you to bypass the key code,.............. and i couldnt get it working , so i uninstalled it and then installed it three times,....with no jot.... so now i am going to turn the house upside down and try to find the 2003 version,,,arghhhhhhh

Ermm... I would think the original problem could have been solved by right clicking a document, selecting Open With, clicking Choose Default, and setting the default program as Word 2003.


Now, since the program has been uninstalled, my only advice would be to just download OpenOffice for free for your word documents.

Thanks for all the help guys....is the open office just like windows, ? i was using something called abiword or something similar at one time,  and most of the time the recipient could not open it, if i used open office would i have any probs similar to that? will keep you all updated on how the story ends...lol

Yes, OpenOffice saves as a format that is compatible with Microsoft Word.  It should not give you any trouble with that.

Guys, i have acquired a genuine copy of microsoft works, can i open my  microsoft word documents with this? and if so how? or do i need Microsoft word?
