I have a hight-end computer running Windows 8.1.  (I only got that OS because I thought Win 7 would be going away very soon.)

I've been trying to find out why my system won't completely shut down sometimes.  Someone has been helping me with that.  We uninstalled some antivirus software and installed "lighter" applications... and did other tweaks that made my system run somewhat faster.  This is when the occasional redirect in Fire Fox started happening almost all the time, (mostly in YouTube, I think).  The problem isn't serious right now because Fire Fox blocks the redirects but I don't know if this malware will cause more problems in the future.  I'd like to get rid of it.

Can anyone help me with that?

I scanned with 360 Total Security and Malware Bytes and found nothing.  I scanned Fire Fox separately as well as the entire system.  I even reinstalled Spybot S&D and scanned the system... and found nothing.

As far as searching for an answer here on the Geeks To Go site, that's very difficult for me because of very poor eyesight and other brain problems.  :(

Thanx in advance for any help with this.  :)

Hi sorry for the delay, are you still getting redirects ?

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
  • Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Select additions at the bottom
  • Press Scan button.
    frst.JPG
  • It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Please attach both logs generated.

I don't see any redirects today.  I'm surprised!  Let me see if it starts happening again before I take any action.  Thanx for your reply.  :)
