my pleasure sorry we couldn't solve your problem and get you up and running though. :spoton:

i think your hard drive has some physical damaged sectors on it and think if the machine was in front of either me or iammykyl because we have the correct gear laying around we could probably have got it working again for you but as you've seen advising people on the forums is a lot more complicated.

here's a link explaining about bad hard drive sectors that i think you'll find interesting :- http://www.howtogeek...an-do-about-it/

and of course why yours got damaged.

the drive may have been dropped, causing the hard drive’s head to touch the platter and damage some of the sectors,

solid state drive or ssd, is a drive made up of memory chips similar to a pc's memory sticks, so there are no moving parts in one.
the advantage is they are a lot faster and the disadvantage is they are a lot more expensive per GB of storage capacity.

a magnetic hard drive or just hard drive has a plate or number of plates that spin at very high speeds and an arm that moves across them that reads and writes magnetic data onto them. advantages are very cheap per GB of data storage, disadvantages are they are a lot slower than ssd's.

hd data transfer speeds are say about 100MB and a ssd is 500MB so lets say to transfer some data from your hd to an external backup hd would take 50 minutes but if both those hd's were ssd's then it would only take 10 minutes to complete your backup.

say for $70 you can buy a 1TB hard drive, to get a 1TB ssd would cost say $500.

Wow thnx for the info, its very expensive
Anyways,i hope someone with the same problem happens to stumble upon this long [bleep] forum and finally fix their own problem

$500...thats half the price of the laptop itself,or the price of a midrange smartphone
