i was trying to root my phone.

 

but the necessary softwares are in zip form, i need to unzip them and hence i got an app , unzip app, however when i tried to unzip that particular program, i got error message saying that the contents cannot be extracted with this program.

 

and my another problem  is ,

 

is there any way to use software meant for windows on macbook?

 

p.s .  ya i am a newbie to mac

What's the application in question? What's the file type of the file you're extracting. If it's an .exe, for example, it won't work on a Mac. You'll need Mac OS X specific software.

 

There are multiple ways to use Windows software on OS X. The ones I advise are below:

  • Use a virtual machine, advised if you're low on resources (namely disk space) and the programs you want to run aren't intensive (since there will be some problems this way).
  • Bootcamp, suitable if you have lots of internal disk space. See Boot Camp - Apple Support

There is, of course, Wine and the like but I don't recommend it.
