Hi there.

 

I had trouble with my Canon wireless printer a few weeks ago, and I emailed Canon, they sent me a long email with instructions to follow, I did that, and the printer started working again. But then a week or two later, it stopped working again. I had a bad virus, and I am not sure if that could have had anything to do with it? The virus is not all cleared up, but the printer is still not working. When I try to print, it comes up with a message that the computer is not responding.

 

There is another thing I noticed too. While trying to figure out how to fix the printer, I clicked on Devices and Printers, and I saw a little yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it on the laptop icon. When I go to click on it, it says, "There is a problem with the driver for Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter #2. Reinstalling the driver might fix this problem." Then if I click to "apply this fix" it has a window saying "resolving problems" and then "detecting additional problems" but then it ends up saying, "Troubleshooting has completed" but below that is says "Problems found - Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter has a driver problem - Not fixed" and "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter #2 has a driver problem - Not fixed."

 

I am not sure if these have anything to do with each other, or if I have two different problems, one with the wireless Canon printer and one with the Microsoft.

 

 

Does anything think they can help me? I have been needing the printer badly.

I usually don't like to troubleshoot issues on a computer unless I'm pretty sure there is no malware present; however, just a couple things...


Are you using Zone Alarm?

Did you set up a new router or something?



If you're using Zone Alarm
 

1. Open your Zone Alarm software and click on the Firewall section in the left tab, taking you to the main section showing the various zone settings...
2. At the bottom right, clicked on the Advanced button, which open a separate window listing several additional options.
3. At the bottom of that newly opened window, click the check-box next to Enable IPv6 networking. Save your settings and restart.

 

If you're not using Zone Alarm

 

1. Click on Start, Control Panel and select Device Manager
2. Click the tab next to Network Adapters to expand the list.
3. Click on View at the top of the Window and select Show hidden devices.
4. Do you see Teredo Tunelling Pseudo-Interface in the list with a yellow exclamation mark next to it or is it missing from the list? If it is there right click on it and select Properties, what does it say in the Device Status box?
    

If you see This device cannot start. (Code 10), then please follow these instructions and let me know the outcome:
 

• Click on Start, type cmd into the Search box, a menu will pop up, right click on cmd at the top of the list and select Run as Administrator. If the User Account Control window appears click on Yes.
• Type all of these commands (very carefully) one at a time and click on the Enter key on your keyboard after each one has been typed in. You must copy the words exactly as shown here, one letter wrong and they won't function.
• netsh
• int teredo
• set state disabled
• Leave the Command window open. Click on Start, Control Panel, Device Manager. Click on View and select Show hidden Devices.
• Right click on Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and select Uninstall.
• Close the Device Manager and Control Panel. Back to the Command window, type these one at a time and click on the Enter key after each one is typed.
• netsh
• int ipv6
• set teredo client
• Close the Command window.
• Open Device Manager again, right click on Network Adapters and select Scan for harware changes, then click on View and select Show Hidden Devices.
• You should now see the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface entry back in place without the yellow exclamation mark.
• Right click on Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and select Properties, it should show that the device is working correctly in the Device Status box.

Hi there. Thanks for helping me. I followed your instructions up to clicking on View and Show Hidden Devices. But no, it did not have Teredo Tunelling Pseudo-Interface with the yellow exclamation point in the list.

 

It did have Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter and Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter #2 on the list, both had the little yellow exclamation point.

 

So I am not sure what to do next.

 

 

We didn't get a new router, but we did get a new internet service provider. And they moved our router down to the basement in order to hook it to their cable without having to drill holes upstairs. But we have been having some trouble on and off since they did that. We bought our router (Belkin) like 6 or 7 years ago. We tried calling Belkin a few times when we had some trouble and they just try to tell us to buy a new router. Maybe we should? Maybe ours is getting old, I don't know? Or we can rent one from Time Warner Cable. Do you think it's our old router that is causing trouble?

 

I am desperate to get my wireless printer working again. Do you think any of this other trouble could be causing the problems with the printer?

Updating this message - I got a pop up window that says "Network Error - Windows has detected an IP address conflict. - Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact your network administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows System event log."

1. To install it go to device manager OR Hold  the Windows Key and Press R. In the run dialog that opens, type hdwwiz.cpl and Click OK.

3.  Then click the Actions tab from the top and select “Add Legacy Hardware”
 

 

4.  Click Next and Next again and Next again (it will not find anything, so do not worry). You will then be taken to Common Hardware types, select.

Right on.  Has there been any change with the problem?  Same as before?

I think it's still having the same problem. I clicked on devices and printers and there is still a yellow exclamation point on the laptop icon and when I click in it and click on trouble shooting, it now said: "There is a problem with the driver for Microsoft teredo tunneling adapter #3"  - Where as before it had been saying there was a problem with the adapter and the adapter #2. But this time it now said #3. And it said, "Reinstalling might fix this." So I clicked on Apply Fix.

 

It ran a bit, then a window popped up saying there was a problem with Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter #2. I clicked to apply that fix. Something ran for a minute, then a small window at the bottom right of my laptop popped up saying something like "Device server software was not properly.." something...I don't know, the window message disappeared as I was typing what it said, and disappeared before I finished what it said.

 

But then another window popped up again now saying trouble shooting was complete and that it found problems with Teredo Adapter, Teredo Adapter #2, and Teredo Adapter #3.

 

And that is where I am left now.

One thing I just noticed is that you have what appears to be 2 anti-virus softwares installed on your machine.

1. MCShield ::Anti-Malware Tool:: (HKLM-x32\...\MCShield) (Version: 3.0.5.28 - MyCity)
2. SUPERAntiSpyware (HKLM\...\{CDDCBBF1-2703-46BC-938B-BCC81A1EEAAA}) (Version: 6.0.1186 - SUPERAntiSpyware.com)

It's possible those 2 AV programs are conflicting somehow.  Let's try uninstalling one of those by clicking Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > scroll down and click/select the one you want to remove (I would advise removing McAfee/MCShield) > Click Uninstall



Let us know once you have done that and if there was any change with the Teredo Adapter problems.

Okay, I did uninstall the McAfee Mcshield.

 

One thing, not sure why, but my wireless printer is now working again, for the moment anyway.

 

And I found a new message that pops up when I start and log on to my laptop. It says "Another computer on this network has the same IP address as this computer. Contact your network administrator for help resolving this issue. More details are available in the Windows system event log."

 

So, I am not sure if that is part of this problem?

I'm glad to hear the printer is working again (I believe this was your main problem).

Is the other error displaying every time you restart the machine?  Are you prevented from doing anything else?



I don't think the error is critical, and it looks like you already have DHCP enabled.  If you just want to stop that error message, I would suggest power cycling your router/modem.

If the error continues, I would not worry about it unless it's preventing you from doing something.   =)

That message does not pop up every time. And so far everything seems to be working fine, including the printer. So maybe everything is all set now? I am not sure how to power cycle the router/modem though.

I think you're fine as long as the error doesn't prevent you from doing something.

Power-cycling is just a fancy term for unplug the device(s).  You may either unplug it from the wall/surgestrip, or from the back of the device.  Leave it unplugged for ~30 seconds and plug it back in.  (If you have 2 devices, a modem AND a router, just power cycle them both.)

It may or may not help with that error message, but again, I think you'll be fine either way.  Glad we got you situated and able to print!
