On a recently installed PC OneNote 2010, which was installed as part of an Office 2010 Pro Plus package, will not launch this morning.  

The message is that OneNote failed to start on a previous attempt.  The choices given are to start normally, delete the cache, or delete all settings.  All choices lead to the same dialog. "Microsoft OneNote has stopped working".  The choices on this one lead no where.

I attempted office repair twice with no change in behavior.

System is a new desktop with Win7 Enterprise 64 bit.  Everything else in Office runs fine.
Obviously, the simple solution is to uninstall and reinstall.  The problem is that I'd like to understand the issue since OneNote has chosen to fail on the one person on staff who hates the program.  

Any ideas or has anyone else seen this?

Perform following steps:

 

-Exit OneNote.

-Find the corrupt section file via Windows Explorer (probably in Documents-->OneNote Notebooks).

-Make a backup copy of this file just to be safe.

-Shift+right-click the original file and select "Copy as path".

-Click Start and select Run.

-Type onenote.exe /forcerepair, then a space, then Paste the path to the corrupt file.
