I have a Lenovo B470e laptop which I did a Windows 7 reinstallation using the same installation cd. Ok the problem here is, after doing the reinstallation, it boots up normally to the login screen and I was able to install the other necessary programs and I was successful. I did a restart, it restarted than it did not boot up. I had the clattering sound and there I am, the laptop could not detect the HDD and as such could not boot up. when I pressed F12 to access the boot menu, it only shows me the other devices excluding the HDD and DVD Rom. I suspect it was the hard disk so I took out the hard disk, connected it as an external HDD to another computer to check if there is fault but its perfect.

Having said these, once I have encountered this, what I did was I used to power it off, leave it for 2 to 3 hours or even a day and when I switched it on again, it boots up normal, I will use it for an hour or two and then it suddenly goes off without me even powering it off. And problem continues again.

So what I intend to know is if there is a fix for this problem where I can be able to solve this problem once and for all because its just so frustrating for me.

If the information I provided is not enough please let me know and I will explain more.

Thank you.

:welcome:   Jasper Dawo,

I'm afraid that your OP is somewhat confusing,

I did a restart, it restarted than it did not boot up. I had the clattering sound

Having said these, once I have encountered this, what I did was I used to power it off, leave it for 2 to 3 hours or even a day and when I switched it on again, it boots up normal,

Are these two completely separate issues/occasions as one sounds like a drive problem and the other an overheating problem.
