I am having a problem.  Had a quick Blue Screen, then my computer wouldn't boot.  The primary drive is a OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD.  Startup Repair didn't work. Tried to repair the MBR.  Ran several CHKDSK.  Nothing seemed to help.  Found a post on this site using FRST.  Made a bootable USB and ran FRST.  Not sure how to interpret the log.  The tutorial on this site said to upload it.  I am uploading that file to see if anyone can help me fix my problem.

Thanks

Hi and :welcome:

There is a very severe corruption here and I cannot guarantee that we wil be able to restore your machine to its normal functionality. I can try, but bare in mind that it will surely take some time and I cannog guarantee a full fix - the OS here looks like a toast from that angle. Actually if it would be mine, I'd do a reformat and a reinstall.

Let's do this one.

Boot your machine again from the USB drive you made.
Access the COmmand Prompt like prior.
This time in the command prompt please put this command:

sfc /scannow /offbootdir=Q:\ /offwindir=C:\windows

and press [ENTER].

NOTE the spaces:
sfc_/scannow_/offbootdir=Q:\_/offwindir=C:\windows

This may take a while. After that please re-run FRST and post another logfile.

Hello.  Thanks for trying to help.  I did what you said and got the following message.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Anything else I can try before reinstalling?  I would like to at least get it functioning for a short time to prepare for a reinstall.

Not sure what even happend.  It was working fine.  Then Access locked up.  I tried to restart, got a BSOD then it wouldn't reboot.

I have Norton and AntiMalware bytes and run often.  I appreciate the help.

Henry

Hi,

Let's try this way...

WindowsKey.png Enter the System Recovery Options

Enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Repair your computer menu item.
  • Select English as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
  • Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
  • Select your user account an click Next.
  • On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:
    • Startup Repair
    • System Restore
    • Windows Complete PC Restore
    • Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
    • Command Prompt
  • Select Command Prompt.
notepad.png Access the notepad and identify your USB drive

In the Command Prompt please type in sfc /scannow and press Enter.

This procedure can take some time. After that generate and post me a fresh FRST logfile.

Okay, I ran sfc /scannow.  It said

There is a system repair which needs a reboot complete.  Please restart and run sfc again.

What happens after the reboot and running sfc again? Does it fail to complete? Goes for a neverending loop?

Hi,

ok, I've got another one idea. Re-run FRST and post a new log. Then do not turn yur machine off until I will provide you with a fixlist. It has to be on all the time.

Hi,

I am sorry - I went to visit my family living on Belarus, there was a huge storm, we had 3 days without any electricity and the internet connection was totally broken down for almost two weeks. It's the first day I am able to reply and I am really sorry for that. Nobody expected that :(

I also don't have any good news.

I was hoping that sfc could help us, but I see a lot of damage and without restoring the crucial Windows files we can't do much.

What Is uggest is to try a repair install.

The only other solution is a complete reformat & reinstall.
