Need techspert help!

Yesterday my 3 month old laptop crashed (acer aspire, go figure), and now whilst most of the files are intact, the programs have been deleted. What are the options for recovering the programs (very expensive statistical uni software I don't wish to pay for again!)??
Thanks!

Hi johnnymckinnon :)

What do you mean exactly by the programs have been deleted? You find yourself on a brand new Windows 8/8.1 installation, with no programs installed, however all of your personal files are still in their place?

you should be able to download and install them again for free, you'd just need to get in touch with the uni for the correct procedure to prove you'd already paid for them, probably just means using the same email address or something.

as to why you lost them in the first place sounds like the laptop has gone through a partial restore process of some type to a date before they were installed (saving your user data folders.), and sorry to say there is no way to recover them so they will work. you will have to downloaded and install them all again.

look in your downloads folder if your lucky the installer programs may still be in there so you can reinstall them, unless you deleted them or the installer deleted itself after installing the programs.
