Hi natman,

You have an infection on your PC which is overriding the Popup blocker and hence the pop ups.

Please download Hijack This from here. Save it in a separate directory, preferably C:\HJT.

Run Hijack This and click on Scan. Save the log as a text file. Copy and paste that text file in its entirety into your next reply here.

Hi Natman,

You have a bunch of infections on your PC. This will take some effort to clean it off.

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://www.noidea.us...050515010747824
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Open Add or Remove Programs (Click on Start ---> Settings ---> Control Panel. This is the 3rd item). Uninstall the item NewDotNet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Hi natman,

With the files sizes growing larger, techniques have been developed to compress files so as to reduce their sizes. Historically this technique has been called zipping. Once the files have reached the destination, they need to be Unzipped to get back the original files.

You can search for Winzip in google and then download the program. This program is also available for trial and therefore need not be purchased !!!!!!!!!

You can install this program. Next time you double click on a .zip file, Winzip will automatically open the zip. Extract the files and save them in the desired destination folder.

You couldnt download Ewido. Leave it as of now. We will do other scans on your PC later.

If you do not have the the software for unzipping, then you cannot proceed with the fix.

Please download that software install it. and then proceed with the prescribed fix minus the Ewido part

When you unzip the file, it will tell you the location where the files are being unzipped.

At that point you can also choose the location where you want to unzip the files.

I suggest that u create a separate directory on your desktop - Call it Malware - and save all files in that directory.

aaah,

Ok, anytime u dont find any file or entry. Just proceed and later report it back to me. Most of the times the running of the file - Nailfix.cmd fixes the problem but sometimes it doesnt. So we include it to ensure that we get the infection.

Please post a new Hijak This log here

Hi natman,

First thing you need to do now is to upgrade the scurity on your PC.

You do not have any anti-virus program or firewall or anti-spyware on your PC. In my signature there is a small section on Good Stuff to have. There are 6 items there. All these 6 items are free. Please download them and install them. All of them.

U can download either Avast AV or AVG from here - http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php. However, dont install both.

Please visit two online scanners - preferably Panda and Trendmicro and do the online scans. Fix / clean any items that they find. A lot of the items can be fixed automatically fixed by them. You would need to use Internet Explorer only for doing these scans.

Please post back the HJT log along with the scan reports.
