Hello!
I am needing some help with this hijackthis logfile. First off, I am having icons appearing out of the sky onto my desktop. The first one that appeared was Party Poker (that seems to have gone away), now i have two new ones (one from VegasRed and another one with with something to the extent of Online Poker). I am always trying the delete as it comes method but it obviously has done nothing to fix the problem. Another problem is that after a few minutes of site surfing (checking my mail etc.) a popup appears. This is the same popup EVERY time I go into internet explorer. It has links on all sides and a search in the middle. The top has something about a free ipod, the left side has erasing credit and intelnet and the right has circuit city. I tried to get the source of the middle (search) page but it does not allow me to do so. The links on the side seem to be legit, i can find the source and it is as it says. As soon as this popup appears, my computer will do one of two things: 1)iexplore illegal operation and will freeze (I have noticed that I have EXPLORER when I ctrl+alt+del and this has always been there but this was iexplore not too sure if this is something normal or corrupted) and 2) the good old blue screen error
I have Adaware, SpyBot, SpyWare Blaster, and a ZoneLabs Firewall. All of which are run daily. I also use an online virus scanner to fix any trojans it finds. I have also updated all of the recent Windows Updates (as of today).
So if someone could please help, here is my HJT log

Hi Kris and welcome to GTG.

That file is responsible for all the problems you have here.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Don't run it yet.

Right click on this link http://www.greyknigh...lO15Domains.inf and choose Save As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. It will run immediately (you won't be able to see anything happen). You may delete it afterwards.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

royalvegasMPP - uninstall it if you didn't install it
VIEWPOINT

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. While in the Registry Editor, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run and delete uccml

If any of the above registry keys are giving you problems deleting, right click on them and click on Permissions. Then click on the Advanced button. Make sure the first box (Inherit from parent...) is checked. Click OK and OK. Then try deleting the entry again. Once you're done, close the Registry Editor.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uccml] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\uccml.exe
O9 - Extra button: Royal Vegas Poker - {FA4904B4-1FAF-4afd-886C-C19D2297BA62} - C:\Program Files\royalvegasMPP\MPPoker.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.neededware.com
O16 - DPF: {AB29A544-D6B4-4E36-A1F8-D3E34FC7B00A} (WTHoster Class) - http://www.wildtange...xnet/wtinst.cab
O16 - DPF: {29B2C103-AB53-4971-B765-FC1CE5D8B2D1} - http://www.silvercrk...284_3425262.cab
O16 - DPF: {1D0D9077-3798-49BB-9058-393499174D5D} - file://c:\counter.cab
O16 - DPF: NDWCab - http://www.neededware.com/ndw3.cab

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\Program Files\royalvegasMPP\ - delete it if you didn't install it
C:\PROGRAM FILES\VIEWPOINT\

Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\UCCML.EXE

I also want you to delete all those icons you have in your desktop now.

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Run an online virus scan at Panda ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Post the log here.

greyknight17,
Thanks for the speedy reply! RoyalVegasMPP is ok I use it and it is fine. On the other hand Viewpoint is odd... so i am deleting it at that step.
I will post back in a few with the results you asked for.

The link
http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan
is ok but when i try to scan it keeps on saying in the bottom left corner "error on page" and it will not start. What do you want me to do. I used another online virus scan (Trend Micro) Virus Scan and my system scanned clean.
Thanks again,
Kris

Hi Kris, are you using Internet Explorer to run the scan? I don't know what's wrong.

OK, try Kapersky then.

Greyknight17,
Finally after 5 hours the virus scan completed.
Here is what it found
6 viruses and 7 infected objects

c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ActiveScan\imscan.dll
c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\filcbr.exe
c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\exp30105.exe
c:\WINDOWS\TEMP\toc 0015.exe
c:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Everything\DynamicsCd\Chapter 13\solu13-197.pdf
(the one above is kinda odd because it is a homework solution that I got off of a cd-rom but who knows)
c:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton Antivirus\Quarantine\7F942F03.exe
c:\Program Files\Terminal Reality\Nocturne\music.pod

I have left the screen up and haven't deleted any of the viruses yet. I am going to await your work to do so.
Thanks Again,
Kris

Hi again Kris, you may keep that homework solution pdf file since you know what it is.

Any idea what this is?

c:\Program Files\Terminal Reality\Nocturne\music.pod

If not delete it with all the other files minus your homework solution pdf file.

Any problems now?
