;) My hard drive was infected by istbar and powerscan spyware.I was sure I had got rid of these months ago and every thing seemed fine.Recently I have had problems with my PC running very slow so went through all the steps you outline for beginners>Adaware picked up these problems and I deleted them, but I did this months ago so im not convinced They have been completely eradicated.I would greatly appreciate it if someone could look at my log and offer any advice. Many thanks in advance. :tazz:

Again,Many thanks. It seems the people behind forums such as this are the only noble souls left in the increasingly cynical world of internet security.

Welcome to GTG.

Please do not post your Ad-aware log here. We only need the HijackThis log.

Do you still have the ISTbar and PowerScan problems after running Ad-aware and fixing them? Your HijackThis log is clean.

Download FxIstbar and run it.

Uninstall these from Add/Remove panel if they are listed:

ISTsvc
PowerScan

Restart. Any problems now?

:tazz: Thanks for the super fast reply, much appreciated. The Powerscan \ IstBar now seem to be removed from the computer. The fact that that these specific problems re emerge after I seemimly deleted them made me think I have some problems with my registry, which is why i posted my logfiles.Despite this the performance of my machine hasnt improved greatly.

;) Many thank for your reply and I will post again if any further issues arise ;)

No problem. OK, I suggest that you install the prevention programs then (if you don't have them already). That should help prevent this from happening soon.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.
