Hi, I have an 800Mhz, 192megs RAM, GeForce 4 system. My firewall is turned off and I have a DSL modem. I've got just the basic BF42, no mods or expansions. I have the 1.61 update too.

When I'm looking through the multiplayer games, if i click one its ping will turn to 9999 and stay that way. If i click refresh, almost every single one turns to 9999 ping. Double clicking one of these games causes it to say "Failed to Connect to Server". For the few games that actually have a legitimate ping showing up, when i try connecting to it, it says "Data Differs From Server".

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have Battlefield 1942 (great game btw, can't wait for Battlefield 2!!!) But anyways, looking at your systems specs, i dont see how it can load it. I tried running it off this comp that had better specs then yours and it lagged pretty bad. I know this doesnt help. I normally load up gamespy if i'm having problems with the BF server (which happens alot). So load up gamespy and join a game from there. Tell me if that works.
