this is a stupid problem. when ever i hit the caps lock key a little icon appears to the bottom right of my screen and says CAPS LOCK: ON/ CAPS LOCK: OFF

is there a way to stop this from popping up every time

Go into control panel, click Keyboard, look for a tab in the new window that refers to your keyboard and click it. Look around for something about Caps lock notification/status and untick it/turn it off.
The help I've given is not very specific but I'm not sure of the keyboard or drivers you are using. Hopefully this might be of some help.

You could think about downloading TuneUp Utilities 2004


This fixes these kinds of problems plus a whole other lot!

I highly recommend this software which i want to point out was recommended by a Geeks to Go member.
