copy solataire from win xp to win 8.1

trying to copy the older solataire on win xp to windows 8 on 2nd computer. I put winscard.dll and sol.exe on disk but not opening or runnming

Gday.   Some methods I found, Important, create a restore point before attempting, read all first. did you,  created a directory in C:\Programs x86 named XPGames. Copied sol.exe and cards.dll from my XP computer into this directory, put a shortcut on the desktop. Double clicked on it?

If it does not work, you need to install a patch, instructions are for copy from W7, but can't see why it will not work for XP.  (about 2 thirds down the page.

Let us know if it works.
