Microsoft Excel has stopped working when trying to copy

I have for years now kept my books on an excel spread sheet. I go to " create a copy then mark the box above that says before the last one on list...last month I have is April 2015 so I copy it then change the next one to May 2015. I have never had issues with this. Have tried all day and now cannot do it. I am running windows 8.1 Please help. Blessings, Sandy
