Hi!
We have had it with the $200 cable bill from Time Warner. The bundle is bogus, and the service stinks! We'd like to stream from our computer and use Netflix, and we are both pretty tech-phobic. Here's what we have:
- HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC, running Windows 8 (which I HATE, but that's for a different thread!)
- Computer runs 32 Bit flash player and Intel Graphics Diver and WiDi (not sure what the video card is named, so let me know what to look for and I'll open my programs to find out)
- Computer has Windows Media Player
- Panasonic Viera TV with HDMI
I bought the computer because 1) my brother recommended it (should have been my first clue to avoid it) 2) it has a ton of connection/card options 3) it's portable enough to park next to the TV.
What is required to get network TV and Netflix? I have bought the Viera dongle and have no idea how to make it work. I've also looked into buying a DVR and a stick like Hulu or Amazon Prime, but again, I'm not sure what all is required with my set up to get what I want. Not interested in premium movie channels or other fancy stuff. Your advice is very much appreciated. Just remember, be gentle - we're babes here!
