Hi, this would be my first build. Looking at around £600-£700 for a gaming PC.
A few builds here, but need opinions and advice, maybe even a link to a good build.

Your first build is the better but I have tweaked it a bit. I would not go with a third party to build for you, often has things you don't really need, lesser quality parts, you will get better fpr the money buying your own parts.
As the CPU is the last item you would want to upgrade in the future, changed to the fastest non K i5.
Up the MB to ATX Z97, actually cheaper.
Same spec RAM, bu blue, not that it matters to much as you don't have a windowed case.
Changed HDD, same performance, slightly quieter, cheaper.
Gone for a GTX 970 as it outperforms the R9 290, uses 100w less power, is cooler, > http://www.trustedre...n-r9-290_Page-5

Notes.
You have not included an Optical Drive.
Some pats have been overidden, this is becase the lowest listed parts from, say Aria, work out more expensive when you add in the deliver charges.

I hope you understand that I am not being picky about your selection, which are pretty good, just trying to get the best parts for the money, and a balanced system.
The Kingston SSD is an older tech, compared to the EVO, less reliable, wear quicker, no boost features, much slower.
The Corsair PSU has a 3 year warranty vs the Antec 5 year.
The stock Intel heatsink/cooler, when used in a case with good airflow, is designed to keep the CPU within it's thermal specs. If you use any different cooling solution, you will void the 3 year Intel warranty. If you need to make a claim and Intel Support are made aware of the altered condition/s, (also includes overrclocking) you may be denied a replacement CPU. I always recommend using the supplied cooler first, and if not happy with the results, then consider changing to an aftermarket one.

Hey could you also do me a favour and do another build for a friend of mine NOT for gaming, but instead for general use.
Needs to be able to cope with a 4K monitor, and have i7 core. Budget max of around £1200, less if possible.
