Videos won't play on Vizio TV from tablet

I have a Galaxy Tab Pro that has a number of videos on it that I'm trying to play on my Vizio 60" smart TV using iMediashare. I can see the videos on the tablet through the TV, but they won't play. No matter whether they're mp4, avi, or whatever, it always says it doesn't recognize the audio and video codecs or they're unsupported even though they play fine on the tablet. Why won't they play on my TV? If I'm using iMediashare, is the video actually playing on the tablet or the TV? I wouldn't think the TV is out of date; it's barely a year old. Is there some way to update the codecs in the TV?
There is actually one video that will play on the TV, it's a wmv file.
