I have a question regarding the new NVMe format for ssd drives that Samsung is about to release.  I have an Asus X99Deluxe motherboard, and if I were to use an SM951-NVMe as my boot drive, would I still be able to access my other storage drives which are AHCI?  Can both the NVMe and the AHCI formats work simultaneously.  I have been googling this in every way I can imagine and can't find anything that answers my question.  I would greatly appreciate any input as I don't want to purchase the drive only to discover that I can no longer access all my physical Sata storage drives.

After reading this overview, I think you will have no problem running a SSD and HDD, together, > https://www.sata-io....Whitepaper_.pdf

I take this to mean, after a BIOS update, installation of the SSD, enter the BIOS to see what device options are available, i.e. NVMe, NVMe/AHCI,

Thank you for your prompt and thorough response.  I will update how it goes when I put it all together.  For the moment I'm waiting on Samsung to release the NVMe drives, which is supposed to be later this month.
