I've been having issues where my computer would crash while playing video games. It would happen very rarely, but when it did, my whole screen would freeze, as would the mouse, and ctrl + alt + del did nothing. I would have to hold the power button down to restart.

 

I tested the memory with no issues and so decided to upgrade my video card (it was like 6+ years old anyways) as well as the PSU in my computer, yet I'm still having crash issues. It seems to be happening more often now, but the majority of crashes, not all, happen in 1 game (Dishonored). I feel like this might be a power/mobo issue, but can't tell. Any help would be appreciated.

Without much fanfare, my friend & I just solved her crashing PC. Her computer's psu was straining to provide power. She said the fan was ramping for awhile then became quiet. Here's the funny part. It's a 500watt psu but only has 24amps. For a HD7950, it should have 32amps or more. It died today, and only when the lite went out and we removed it, did we see the information label on the back side. I suppose the psu fan was just growing tired. SO you should also think about this as your pc is already 6 years old.

My power supply is a 750 watt 12v single rail, so its ampage is about 62.5. The new video card requires a minimum of 42 amps. My CPU is 95 watts and requires about 8 amps.

 

Also, according to this site, I need a minimum of 550 watts. http://www.extreme.o...culatorlite.jsp

 

I feel like I should be good on the power supply, but perhaps a double rail might be better than a single?
