I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.

Recently Malware Bytes repeatedly alerted me about C:\Windows\System32\USP10.dll having flagged it as Trojan.Vawtrak. After running a scan I set Malware Bytes to delete the file. MB asked me to restart my PC. Upon restarting the PC would not boot. When I try to boot in Safe Mode it loads as far as C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\aswrvrt.sys then hang a few seconds until it reboots.

I have used a windows repair ISO on USB to boot to the Recovery Options and attempt automatic repairs. Automatic repairs claimed to fix some problems with the start-up process but has run out of solutions.

I have used command prompt to run chkdsk and also taken the hard drives out and accessed files via other computers. They all appear to be working fine.

I am unable to successfully run sfc via command prompt. Sadly I have no system restore points.

I have run FRST64. The log is attached. Edit: log removed as issue has been resolved.

Update: According to the Malware Bytes team the detection is a false positive and has been updated in their database. As a result I believe my problem does not involve any active malware.

Update 2: I was able to resolve this issue my copying usp10.dll from another windows 7 computer to my boot usb and then to my windows\system32 folder on the affected machine. The machine now boots and operates correctly.

Issue has been resolved and thread can be closed.
