In any case the I blocked the thing that tried to install. It was dumprep 0 -k . I'm not sure this was a file you indicated earlier, but it was deleted w/ the other stuff I was told to remove.
I will edit whenever silent runners finishes.

Thanks, Ryan

I looked back and can't see where I told you to "delete" this?

This is not spyware this is a non essential part of windows that is Used in connection with memory dumps.

Did you uninstall Sygate Firewall, or is it still on your computer?

You have instantces of Sygate firewall on your computer. I know for a fact that this will casue a conflict with Panda Firewall (same thing happend to my sisters computer 2 days ago)

Here is some I found, but don't delete them yet:

SyGate for NT, wg3n: \SystemRoot\SYSTEM32\Drivers\wg3n.sys (autostart)
SyGate for NT, wg4n: \SystemRoot\SYSTEM32\Drivers\wg4n.sys (autostart)
SyGate for NT, wg5n: \SystemRoot\SYSTEM32\Drivers\wg5n.sys (autostart)
SyGate for NT, wg6n: \SystemRoot\SYSTEM32\Drivers\wg6n.sys (autostart)

Go to Start > Run - type:

regedit

Click OK.

When you get into the registry, on the leftside, click to highlight My Computer at the top. Then go up to "File > Export" Make sure in that window there is a tick next to "All" under Export Branch. Leave the "Save As Type" as "Registration Files", then save it as backup to a convenient location. Remember where you put it (I don't recommend putting it on the desktop) This is so the registry can be restored to this point should anything be deleted by accident or something else happens. It may take a minute. Just let it go until it's done.

Lets try to remove some of those Sygate entries and see if that helps.

Run a system search (start> search> files and folders) for anything related to Sygate, Sybergen or SPF and delete it.
Also look for these 2 files: “Teefer.sys” (windows\system32\drivers\teefer.sys) and
“Wps.dll” (windows\system32\wps.dll)

Please Note: When dealing with the system registry you will need to be careful so only remove the listed folders as they relate to Sygate and SPF.

Now Click "Start" >> "Run" and type "regedit"; Now locate and delete the following Keys if found: (Please note: if you do not find any of these that is fine you just want to be sure that there are no conflicts)

HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\winsock2\wps
HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\sygate technologies, Inc.\Sygate Personal Firewall
HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\service\smcservice
HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\service\teefer
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine/software/Microsoft/windows/currentversion/uninstall/{5D422994-9E10-11D4-AEB1-00D0B7237D97}

Reboot. You might want to clean you registry up after this, try this program:
  • Please dowload: RegSeeker.
  • Click on "Clean The Registry" in the left panel.
  • Check all boxes (make sure the backup box in the lower left corner is selected!).
  • After it runs, click "Select All" on the bottom, then right-click on any selected item in the window and select "Delete Selected Items".
  • Click "Quit RegSeeker".
Now, open any of your installed programs, and make sure that everything opens ok. If so, reboot, then go back and run the RegSeeker again, do the same thing again if anything is found. When RegSeeker finds nothing else, then it's clean!

i now have problems I didn't have before. Earlier when I used regseeker, it screwed up my msn mail, and after I returned the changes your other instructions seamed to have new problems with my panda. It reports a firewall error. I don't know what to do, but I found another teefer.sys file in the panda folder so I think it may be a part of panda, and essential to it. I don't know If I can fix some of the changes I have made. I have to ask, what do you think I should do...

Thanks, Ryan

Ryan,

You shouldn't have deleted the file in the Panda folder. You should be able to reinstall the panda, if it comes to that.

Go ahead and restore your registry to the backup you made. then we will go from there. I will see if i can get advice from a set of fresh eyes.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

It seems like I will reinstall panda because I don't think I should have removed the registry entry, but I did not remove the file from the panda folder.

Ryan,

After dicussing this with a few other staff members, Panda might very well be the casue of your BSOD's. Having Sygate files might be conflicting with panda causing the errors.

Let me know when you get it unistalled. And we will go from there.

Thanks,

Do I understand that you want me to uninstall panda? If so, I have to reinstall it as well, just to be sure. The owner of this computer has a payed subscription to the updates and such. I also wanted to ask if actually installing a sygate firewall and then uninstalling it might remove the files that don't belong, as I never installed sygate firewall.

Thanks, Ryan
