HI I am operating windows xp 64 bit and have trouble connecting with an internet router.
I am able to connect on laptop but not my desktop. I had no problems connecting on desktop with previous internet provider, when I switched, the internet connection became a problem. When trying with the wireless (realtek rtl8187 wireless 802.11g 54mbps usb 2.0 network adapter) the signal is full and the computer connects no problem for approximately 20 minutes then disconnects. It then starts to automatically try to reconnect by acquiring network but is never able to, the only way to reconnect is to restart the computer.
I tried to hardwire the connection. The lan network reads that it is connected but status reports no activity, when selecting repair I get the following error message "TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed." When I select properties the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is clicked. I have tried unclicking and restarting and clicking and nothing happens, and have also tried disabling the wireless connection, and nothing.
Please help, thanks Martin
