I have an HP 733n and today the screen was frozen on one of the pictures that comes up in my screen saver so I rebooted but then there was no display. The monitor came on when I turned the CPU on but then went into stand-by. I disconnect the video cable from the monitor to the CPU and the monitor said check video connection. I reconnected the cable and shut off power to the whole computer, let it stand then powered it back up and still the same thing... Any ideas as to what the problem could be? :tazz:

Hi and welcome to Geeks to Go. Do you have video if you boot into safe mode? If you do, it could be a driver issue which is one course of troubleshooting to take. If you don't have video in the safe mode, then either the monitor or the video card has failed. The best way to rule each one out is to swap with a known good one. The monitor is easiest to do so start there.
