Hi,

I am currently "fixing" a family member's computer problem and during the process one of the antivirus software have found a virus in "wheresvr.exe" located in windows/system32 catalog.

And honestly i'm stumped, i have no idea what this file is, and google tells me nothing.

Anybody has any idea what this file is, and can it be removed safely ?

My rule is if it doesn't google it can't be legit.  Right click on it and select properties.  Does it say who makes it?

Since it's in System you might want to submit it to virustotal.com  and see what they say.  If in doubt don't delete just change its name to "wheresvr.bad".
