I use a combo of Opera and Chrome and both browsers keep having tabs crash and state they are out of memory. Sometimes I will open one of the browsers and will get the crash message right off the bat, or just open a new tab and I will see it. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both.

My machine is running 8.1, has 16GB of RAM, C: (SSD with 135GB free and main browser/programs installed) and a X: (Storage drive with some programs installed as well).

I know my machine is malware free and I know I am not running out of RAM. But I have a feeling it has something to do with my virtual memory settings. My C: is the only one with a paging file and is set to System managed.

Any suggestions?

Can you post a screen capture of the error message when it fails?

Do you have any Add-ons for either/both browsers?

What happens with IE?

I do have add ons but the issue persists even with none of them enabled or installed. My laptop with Chrome and Opera on Windows 7 syncs all the settings, extensions, etc and does not have this problem. Same with my work computer, just this PC.

Have yet to try IE since I try to avoid it.

Try it and/or Firefox just as a test, If that fails then it's a OS problem, otherwise it's (probably) something to do with Chrome and Opera.

I disabled virtual memory on all the drives and I haven't run into the problem since. Has been 2 days so far.

With 12GB of ram you probably don't need virtual memory.

Re-enable Virtual Memory but move the swapfile to a drive other than C: (X:) see what that does.

Tried disabling Samsung RAPID (uses some unused RAM as a cache for the SSD) but still got the browser errors.

Just re-enabled virtual memory on my X: and will report back.

Update: Still got the same error message when opening a new tab in Chrome.

Post a snapshot of a fullscreen Disk Management Window:

To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen. Expand the fields as necessary so everything can be seen.

Disk 1 and Disk 3 show the same drive letter (X:) and name My Disk.

Something weird there. Looks like they are setup in some kind of RAID array.

Also, you show a B: drive which is unusual as well. B: has always been associated with a 2nd floppy drive/Hard drives typically are assigned C: through Z:, not A: or B:.
