i cloned old 500 gig drive to new 2tbyte. took old drive out and the new drive boots and works ok.

but when i go to " computer" it shows the new drive as being full as if it's looking at the old drive.

any ideas please

Probably created a 500GB partition on the 2TB drive, leaving the rest (1.5TB) unallocated.

 

Look at Disk Management, see what it shows you.

Can you post a screen capture of a fulll screen Disk Management with fields expanded so all words can be seen?
 
To open Disk Management, press Windows key+r, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter or click GO. Make it full screen. Expand the fields as necessary so everything can be seen.

Do you want your C: drive to contain all the drive space or do you want to partition it into 2 or more partitions?

 

Also, what Operating System, Vista or Win 7, 32 or 64 bit?

i managed to sort it using AOMEI Partition Assistant.

Great. You could have done it with Disk Management but AOMEI is a great program.
