I found a freeware program from SourceForge, 7-zip SFX Maker. It does the trick. Thanks anyway. Go to the full post »

I've been trying to find a freeware ziping utility that allows you to assign a default "zip too" folder location when creating a self-extracting archive. This is great for sharing files with people that have little or less computer knowledge. I can send them an executable file, they dbl-click it and the files are unzipped into the directory I want them placed in.

So far the only zip utility I've found that allows this option is WinZip. This, however is not freeware and the WinZip installation adds a folder to my computer that messes up my file associations.

Does anyone know of a utility like the one I am seeking?

Thanks.
