So I signed up for the Windows 10 free upgrade and the little Windows 10 app told me it would notify me when it was ready.  I read in multiple places that the upgrade folder is nearly 6 gb of data.  Well its now the 30th and I have yet to receive my notification.  When I look at the size of the Win 10 download folder it is exactly 5.91 gb. Do I have a bug where it just failed to notify me but my upgrade is actually ready?  Can anybody else see their folder and tell me exactly how big it is supposed to be?

I have the iso version and it's 5.57 gig.  Supposed to have both 32 and 64 versions in it but I haven't been able to burn it to a CD yet.  Think my burner is dead (or overheating as the burn seems to fail about 7/8 through)  .  Need to move the file to another PC and try to burn it there.

Ya I saw all the different ways to seed up the process but I really wanted to see how long it would take for Windows to notify me that my upgrade was ready.  I wanted to know if I was truly waiting or if I had found a bug in the notification system.  I decided to give it two weeks before doing the upgrade on my own.  It finally happened yesterday, nearly a week after 10's release I get the notification that the upgrade is ready despite the fact that the install files were sitting on my HDD all this time.  I am posting this from that machine now.  So far so good.  The only issue I have had thus far was the NVidia drivers.  I installed the latest drivers that work for Win 10 a few days ago, and assumed they would carry over with the upgrade.  However they did not work after the upgrade and neither did the GeForce Experiance app.  So I had to download it again and do a clean install.  All is working now.  I have only had this system up and running with Win 10 for a couple hours now but I like it.  I didn't try out any of the pre-release versions because I wanted to dive into this like a regular Joe with very little computer knowledge who was buying a new system with Win 10 on it.  I think the average computer user over the age of 40 will be much better off with Win 10 over Win 8.  It is a nice combination of the classic style and the new style introduced with Win 8.  Outside of some privacy concerns I like it.

Naaa, just stick it on a bootable flash drive.  Optical drives are so 2005.
