I closed the Process Explorer and left only Mozilla with this thread opened before playing the same video.

Started lagging after 4-5 seconds and video stopped at 10-11 seconds.

Similar to what was before, at the beginning of this thread.

What does Speedfan say?  Perhaps we need to get out the vacuum cleaner to cool it?

It's similar to before I guess...

Around 62-63 degrees C.

When idle for few minutes it can drop to 59-60 C and when opening a video or something similar then it raises to 65-66 immediately.

If you want, I can try to clean everything again (removing the dust with the compressed air can) and try replacing the thermal paste (if I find it around the house).

That would probably take me few hours.

Does the temperature go up while you watch a video?  Right click on the clock and Start Task manager, Processes.  Click on Show Processes from All Users and then click on the CPU column heading once or twice until the highest CPU users are at the top.  Now watch the video.  How much CPU is used and what is the biggest user?

I have kept Mozilla opened. Basically nothing else besides that. Paint for screenshots but that should affect anything I guess.

Here is the info before playing the video...

before.png

And this is while playing the video which was running fine now for almost 30 seconds and then stopped playing (just the audio from then on)

Open a Command Window and type:

dxdiag

then hit Enter.  A new Window should open.  Wait for the blue bar at the bottom right to go away then Save All Information.  It will save a file dxdiag.txt.  Copy and paste or attach it to a reply.

Looks about the same as mine.  You have a slightly newer video driver.  I'm beginning to feel it's a heat issue.  The slight rise in temperature caused by watching a video may be enough to push a chip into misbehaving.  Really need a vacuum cleaner or fan tray to keep the temps down to see if that helps.

Could you tell me how to use the vacuum cleaner? Put it next to the fan? Without opening the laptop or anything?

Put it at the exhaust vent where the hot air comes out.

Well, last time I used a vacuum cleaner, it was a 'normal' one. A classic one I guess which I thought I still have around the house.

However, the modern one that is in use isn't very practical (if not impossible to use) for this purpose.

(image from the internet but it's the same one I have)

I'll try to cool it some other way and see if I can get the temperatures to fall to 50 degrees or so and then play a video and see what happens.

If you have something else to test in the meantime, shoot away.

And thanks for your time, this took much longer than I anticipated.

1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. C:
2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
4. Check both boxes and then click Start.
You will receive the following message:
The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?
Click Yes to schedule the disk check, but don't restart yet.

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then the Event Viewer. Next select Windows Logs.  Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application. Reboot. The disk check will run and will probably take an hour or more to finish.

Run minitoolbox with just the

checked and post its log.

You might also want to try:

Haven't used it before but they make good software.

We did that already, few days ago when I was in the other city with bad internet connection.

But I'm doing it again.

And yeah, I know it will take a long time so most probably I'll come back to your tomorrow, with the results.

And what should I do with the "What is Hang" once this system check finishes?

Just wanted to ask to save the time for the question tomorrow.

I know we did the disk check but with all the problems we have had it won't hurt to do it again.

The what is hang apparently runs in the background and when something hangs like your video stops it is supposed to tell you what happened.

**** End of log ****

I'll try the 'What is Hang' now and see if it can find something useful.

Tomorrow I'll try to find some small vacuum cleaner and bring temperatures down. Keeping it on standby on a book in a room wit the AC didn't help much.

EDIT: I've tried playing the same video with "WhatIsHang" running but nothing showed up, at all. To check if the program is running well, I tried opening YouTube and an application appeared on "WhatIsHang" but when playing a video nothing shows up on the "WhatIsHang".

And just FYI, the video played for 30 seconds again and then stopped.
