Hello everyone .. hope all is well.

Back in March 12, 2015 I thought I had a virus but an advisor on here said that it may be my hard drive failing which upset me becasue I had replaced my hard drive not to long ago for it to be failing. I got the help to clone and uninstall/reinstall the hard drive here.

Before I go ahead and call seagate I have to make sure it is truly filing otherwise I will have to pay for the replacement new drive instead of the warranty being granted. I have a 5 year warranty.

Can someone please tell me how to check to make sure it is failing. I tried to look for the seagate tool to check the hard drive but couldnt find it again oon thier drive.

You want SeaTools

The Extended test.  Should take several hours to complete.

Run the short test first. If it fails no need to run the long test. Only run it if the short test passes.

Could be caused by malware, so the best thing to do is go to the Virus, Spyware, Malware Removal forum, read the first post and follow instructions.

Come back here once you get a clean bill of health if you still have problems and we'll look at whats starting when you boot and what software is installed.
