I have a Gateway NX860XL. Running wins 7 home edition. processor Intel core 2 cpu T7200 @ 2ghz. Graphics is a Nvidia Ge Force Go 7900 GS. I registered for the windows 10 upgrade and I finally got my notification but when I clicked on it is says unfortunately, this pc is unable to run windows 10. For the reason of my Nvidia. It says that Nvidia Ge Force Go 7900 GS the display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with windows 10. I would like to install windows 10 but have no clue where to go to find the correct driver update for the graphics card. I have search the internet and found some many conflicting ideas that has left me confused. I upgraded from wins xp to windows 7 home edition. Can you please give me some advice here on what I can do.  Thank you Patty

I have the right driver installed. But still can not install wins 10 it still is giving me the same reason. The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with windows 10. I don't know what else I can do.

I don't want to leave you with a non fuctioning system, so procede with caution.

 

What is the OS, 32 or 64 bit?

Does your current driver match the one on >  http://www.driversca...s/nx860xl/47993 ?

Yes my driver installed is

  7.15.11.7948  and it says in system info 32 bit OS.

I've had success using the Nvidia GeForce Experience tool. Install and run it and see what it finds.

Follow Ztruker"s instruction first and if no Go, see below,

 

For safety, we need your working video driver to be saved separately on the system.

Create a folder, name it, "Original Working GPU driver", go to > http://www.driversca...s/nx860xl/47993 download/save the driver to the folder you created.

Create another folder, name it, " Updated video driver"  go to > http://www.driverscape.com/download/nvidia-geforce-go-7900-gs download/save the driver to the folder you created, 

Driver Version: 7.15.11.7968 Release Date: 2009-03-11  (note that the last two digits are higher than the one you have presently installed.)

 

Please post back,  Do not install anything yet.

I have downloaded and installed Nvidia GeForce Experience. but on opening it searches for driver then says sorry, GeForce could not find a driver for this PC. Visit NVidia.com/drivers for the latest software update. When I do it automatically fills in the fields with option1 manually find drivers for my NVidia products.

Product series: GeForce 900 series

Product: GeForce GTX Titan X 

Operating System: Windows 7 32 bit

Language: English

Now I can either clicked on Search or

Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my Nvidia products   can click on Graphics driver

Search brings up this:

Hi iammykyl.

I made new folder and put original driver in the folder and did the same with other driver. both folders are sitting on my desktop. And yes I know how to start computer in safe mode. After all this I hope I won't be disappointed with windows 10. But Microsoft never does make things easy.

This earlier driver does support your card, 341.44  WHQL Release Date 2015.2.24 > http://www.nvidia.co...spx/82466/en-us. As there is downloaded to try first, we will keep this one in reserve. 

This driver, W10 32 bit, may support your card, 341.74 Release Date 2015.7.29 > http://www.nvidia.co...spx/87989/en-us

FYI.   Although the W10 upgrade Installer has a Roll Back feature (option available only for the first 30 days).   It has failed on some systems and the only fix seems to be, a fresh install of the original system.

 

Please make sure you have backed up any important Data, you could also use W7 built in imaging tool.

 

Make sure you are running on mains power

Crate a restore point, give it a meaningful name.

Install the update driver package, 7.15.11.7968

Restart the computer.

If OK, try W10 Upgrade.

 

If no good.

Restart the computer in Safe Mode.

Go to Device Manager.

Roll Back the Display Driver.

I tried installing the driver 7.15.11.7968 and this is what I got. Nvidia setup error. the NVidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.

OK, we will try a different driver.

 

Delete the Driver Version: 7.15.11.7968 from your folder Updated video driver.

Download Driver version 341.44  WHQL and save to the driver update folder, > http://www.nvidia.co...spx/82466/en-us

 

Make sure you are running on mains power

Crate a restore point, give it a meaningful name.

Install the update driver package, 341.44

 

Restart the computer.

If OK, try W10 Upgrade.

I downloaded 341.44 and tried to installed after it opened it did a system check and says Nvidia installer can not continue. This graphics driver cannot find compatible graphics hardware.

Info from other sources seem to indicate that  INF file for Nvidia Notebook Display Drivers are not updated.

Lets see if we can force an install.   

Create a restore point.

Go to device manager.

Click on the Update Driver tab for the Display driver.

Chose the Have Disc route.

Choose the version 341.44 from the desktop folder and install.

If it fails, try again.
