Purchased a new computer today. Tried to install a nvidia geforce gt 220 graphics card that I have and the monitor

kept coming back with not receiving signal.  Also tried to add more ram, no go. Removed the card and the ram, now it all works fine.

 

Is the graphics card no good for win 10? I have never installed a graphics card before.

 

 

I apologize if I have posted in the incorrect spot.

wow, that's a good question. Where would I find that info?

win 10 has me searching for stuff in weird places lol.

Nvida says:Minimum System Power Requirement (W) 300 W for that card.

 

You can try installing this driver then power off, install the card then power on, see what happens.

 

What are the specs for the memory you are trying to add? Dell site says:

 

"> Memory

Configurations supported 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB

Yes as ztruker said, as from here , you need atleast 300w power, DDR3 RAM, PCI-E slot (where you have to install your card),

 

Since it is external card, make sure you have all win 10 drivers for your graphic card is installed properly,

all of them really. I went back and checked out my graphics card again. When I reinstalled it I kept getting all kinds of

problems with the screen going to sleep to faulty programs. All of sudden the card just tried to go 3 D which was really wierd.

I removed it again and everthing went back to normal.

 

So, it was settings on the computer, but it was also the video card.

 

The RAM is working fine.
