I've been using 10 since the first week it was officially released.  Updated from 8.1 Home. 

 

When I need to access settings that require admin rights, the user account control box always comes up and asks for the admin password.  Today when accessed, it suddenly started giving the option to enter password *or PIN*.  This has never happened before.  I've never used the PIN for anything and don't exactly remember even setting it up, however, when I typed what I thought it *would* be if I had set it up - it was correct. 

 

What would make Windows 10 suddenly start giving the second option to enter PIN when it never had before?

Should I be worried that someone tried to (or did) access my computer while I was away?

Did I just fall for a password/PIN hack of some kind?  It's happened before.

 

 

EDITED TO ADD:

I just noticed that under settings/accounts/sign in options that it indicates I do NOT have a PIN set up already.  It only gives me the option to add one.  Not to change or remove.

In the same way you should find for windows 10 (sorry i should not find one with win 10).

 

start-->search--> type Local Security Policy--> Under Local policies in left pane--> security options-->On right side pane-->Go to the options and select User Account control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode-->right click--> properties--> select Prompt for consent for non-windows binaries.

 

Restart the pc if need.

Not my issue at all!  Please reread.

 

Before, it had asked for password ONLY.

Sorry for my mistakes!

If you did not create PIN yourself, may be someone tried to access your computer and create PIN, whether it asks for PIN during Login?
