I have a acer aspire that came with windows 7 and i have never had a problem with it. I recently upgraded to windows 10 with the free upgrade and after 2 weeks, tried to go back to windows 7 through the option in the control panel. The computer seemed to do its thing for awhile and now when it goes to boot it flashes a blue screen (it flashes so fast i cannot read anything) and just restarts again.

I have tried putting in a boot disk and attempting to repair it but with no luck. Now i know i can restore it using the internal restore but i dont want to lose my files and programs i have installed.

Any ideas or tools i could get to get my baby back up and running?
PS: THANK YOU =)

Boot to the Advanced Boot Options Menu, aka Safe Mode menu. Select Disable automatic restart then boot. If you get a blue screen it will stay. Record the information or even take a picture with a digital camera and upload here.

You press F8 during boot to get to the Advanced Boot Options Menu.

7B is a disk boot error of some kind.  Lomg discussion on this here: https://social.techn...=w7itprogeneral

This post by HugoCore fixed some people:

I had also Windows 7 with 0x0000007B blue screen while loading Windows 7.

It's turn out that the BIOS had been change to another disk mode, IDE, ex-raid. For now I wanted IDE, to be simple.

Here's what works with me:

In the BIOS, i went change the SATA to IDE mode (NOT RAID, NOT AHCI)

1.Boot Win7 DVD

2.Choose the Language Selection.

3.Choose Repair.

4.On the recovery tools choose the Command Line Console

5.Type:regedit <ENTER>

7.Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

8.File > Load Hive

9.Select < windows partition with problem > \Windows\System32\config\system (Backup this first, it's advised)

10.Regedit will ask for a Key name: Name it something like "temp"

11.Located HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/temp/Select/Current

12.Searched for every key containing the value “SCSI Miniport” where the "Start" value was a "3" and changed the "Start" value to a "0". (F3 to search next result).

13.Highlight "temp"

14.File > Unload Hive

15.Restart

16.Enter in Win7 :)

Other possibilities as well, read through that thread.

An alternative would be to restore to factory new condition.

What is the full model number of the Acer Aspire? The online users guide should tell you how to do this.

Is your data backed up? A restore to factory will wipe it out so it needs to be backed up.

Hey, ztrucker... thank you for helping me out, im still at it trying to figure this out. Restoring isnt a option yet, as i got lazy and didnt back anything up! Anyways i was messing around and it seems my windows 7 is a different letter than C: ? I was wondering if this could be why its not wanting to load, i did do the suggestion from that website you mentioned and now i dont get the blue screen it boots right into windows system recovery but it dosnt fix anything. I think i am getting close to getting it working, hope you had a good weekend, i know i did! Oh, check out all the drives its showing i only have 1 hard drive in the laptop it looks like windows 10 did a number!

THANKS!

Looks like you were booting from a recovery disc or something as the boot drive shows as X: which is typical for that environment. You Vista boot drive showing as D: is also normal as often it does not get assigned C: in the recovery environment.

Do you have a Windows 10 install flash drive or DVD? If not, see here: Windows 10 ISO Download

You can boot it then take the Repair choices to get to a command prompt where you can copy your data off to a flash drive. Once you have that then you can do the restore to factory state or a clean install of Windows 10.
