Home phone rings but dial tone when answered

Hello,I wonder if you can help me, ever since I moved house a few months ago my home phone has been ringing sometimes many times a day and it says call on the phones display but when I answer it there is just a dial tone...
I have no idea why it is doing it, have even tried two different phones in there and it still happened. It's getting pretty annoying now and wondered if anyone heard of the problem before or could have possible answers for it.
