I upgraded to Windows 10 and was having severe connection problems so decided to revert back to Windows 8.  In the process the computer froze up.  Finally I decided to reboot the computer but it will no longer open up the operating system I get hp please wait screen and then it will eventually turn pink.  I can f8 and the troubleshoot/recovery page will come up. However, when I try to refresh or reset the pc it tells me to insert the windows installation or media recovery to continue which I do not have.

Is there anything I can do? I can actually get into the computer into safe mode using the troubleshooting f8 key.  If I try to refresh the computer from there, it again tells me I need a disc.  So,is there a way I can make a disk for installation?

I have a HP 2000 notebook

Serial #Serial CNU2342L61

Thanks in advance,

Rose

:welcome:  rose_123,

Have you tried restarting the notebook and continually tapping the F11 key, if not, can you do so and let us know the outcome.

Yes, I've tried that but nothing comes up. At the bottom it will say f11 - system recovery, but the screen stays black and then goes to a pink screen eventually.

Looks like you need to start afresh, you can download and install Windows 8 from a thumb drive following the steps provided courtesy of Brink here, please note the warning about the UEFI BIOS alternative.

The Windows product key should be stored on the BIOS chip but I would suggest that you check the base of the notebook and beneath the battery to see if there is a product key sticker present.

Not heard back from you rose_123, do you still require assistance or is the issue now resolved, an update would be appreciated.
