I already tried all the solutions listed in these sites:

http://www.howtogeek...-vista-sidebar/

http://answers.micro...88595598?auth=1

http://www.windowsva...dows-7-gadgets/

But none of those work, any ideas?. i really would appreciate your help on this as i think is a tricky one. But please dont tell me that i should format the pc and install Windows again. Thanks in advance.

:welcome:   Chemist116,

You have not mentioned trying a system restore point so if not done follow the steps below to go back to a point that is before the problem became apparent;

  1. Click Start, next All ProgramsAccessoriesSystem Tools, and then System Restore.
  2. System restore will show a recommended restore, which is the latest created restore point. In case you are sure the system was still running properly on this date, click Next; else select Choose a different restore point. This will present you with a list of available restore points, ordered by date. Select a date on which, or prior to, you know your system was working correctly, and click Next.
  3. You will receive a confirmation window. Click Finish to start the restore process. The system will automatically restart as part of the process.
  4. Post back with an update for us.
But please dont tell me that i should format the pc and install Windows again.

FWIW: We would never suggest that unless it was blindingly obvious that it was the only possible solution, something that does not happen very often I`m pleased to say.

Thanks for the advise phillpower2 but unfortunately i am unable to use system restore. I want to add that the problem maybe was caused after i executed a clean up using cc cleaner, but i took attention to only perform 'cleaning' to chrome and firefox which are the ones i use. Could it be that cc cleaner was behind this?. Is there any other option?. Thanks in advance.

Hello. it's been some time since i posted this question and well, i don't want to be rude nor ungrateful to the person who kindly suggested me a solution but, still i cannot solve the problem. Is anybody out there who can post any other options which does avoid the necessity of reinstalling windows or using system restore?.

i must say that i would not recommend using system restore in this case as it would do more harm than good, as this issue is known to be unaltered even after using a valid restore point.
