New instal of vista 32 bit and windows updates just keep checking

Thanks for the reply chaps most appreciated. I already had both service packs installed but one was corrupt and in the end it was easier to re-download them and reinstall vista again and now all is... Go to the full post »

Hello

It's a new install of vista 32 bit and the windows updates just keeps on checking for updates and checking never finding a thing and running for days. I have run windows fix it tool and it has not worked and ideas would be appreciated

Install SP1 and SP2 then try the updates again. If you already have SP1 then install SP2:

SP1:
32 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone (KB936330)
64 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems (KB936330)


SP2:
32 bit: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465)
64 bit: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone for x64-based systems (KB948465)
