Hey guys. My rig uses a GTX 970 Video card. I'm thinking of purchasing a liquid cooler for it. Any ideas of what type will work with this?

are you looking for...

option1 :- gpu blocks to use with a dedicated watercooling setup you've built?

or

option2 :- are you looking for an all in one unit like you can get for cooling cpu's? eg. :- http://www.scan.co.u...366-fm1-fm2-am2

if the 1st option then look here :- http://www.frozencpu...ocks-Page1.html

and here :- http://www.scan.co.u...and-accessories

find the one you like and is made for your make of gtx970 card then see if you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

if option 2 then i'm afraid i don't know of any such item so your probably out of luck.

it is possible to attach an all in one cpu cooler to a gpu if you know what your doing though and you'll also probably need to add heat sinks to things like the vrms and ram.

did find this that you can use with all hydra cpu coolers on refrence designed gtx970 cards. :- http://www.corsair.c...cooling-bracket

Terry, thanks for the response. I have a Gigabyte GTX 790. I looked at the HG10 N970 bracket that Corsair offers, but I don't think it will work, it is only compatible for Evga 970. I have a Corsair H60 liquid cooler for my CPU. At wits end. Ideas?

in case you don't know what reference design means this topic explains it :- http://hardforum.com...d.php?t=1730682
your right though your's isn't listed there.

don't forget changing the cooling system that came on the card will void it's manufacturers warranty.

At wits end. Ideas?

you can fit any cpu water cooler to a gpu but in most cases you will have to jerry rig some kind of way to hold it there, you will also need to buy small heat sinks to go on the vrm's and ram to keep them cool.

this is what i mean when i say jerry rig :-

terry1966, Thanks much for the information. The specs that I have on my rig are as follows: Intel Core i7-4790-4GHz-CPU-Gigabyte Z97X-MoBo-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970-Video Card-16 gig RAM-Corsair H60-CPU Cooler-Corsair TX850M-PSU. I have run Fur Mark, CPUID HWMoniter & Speed Fan with a GPU temperature not exceeding 80 C. On a whim, I looked at my Device Manager, it showed (yellow triangle, black exclamation mark)s on "PCI Simple Communication Controller" and "Programmable Root Enumerator". I can somewhat expect my rig to be freezing for a short time (20 secs) with racing games. But it tends to freeze with others that don't even come close to the graphics usage. I have contacted Phillpower2 and Dashing Star about my malady, and they thought that it might be a driver conflict. I am somewhat of a duffer when it comes to the technical aspects of computers, but I can't understand why this is happening. I believe I have enough horsepower under the hood. Ideas?

well if phillpower2 is helping you then i'd definitely suggest following his advice because i'm sure he'll get to the bottom of any problems your having eventually through the process of elimination and trial and error, he is very thorough from what i've read of his posts.

driver conflict/problem is definitely a possibility by the sounds of it, if you link the topic here i'll have a read of it and if it looks like they are running out of things to try and i can think of something they haven't thought of or tried yet then i'll certainly post them there for you.

one thing i'll suggest now though is to use the intell driver update utillity :- https://downloadcent...-Update-Utility

to make sure everything intel is upto date and run a memory test and hard drive test to check there is no hardware problems there.

terry1966, Thanks for the advice on the update utility. I did as you suggested and after the scan it found that I needed "Iris" Pro, and HD Graphics Driver. I downloaded it and have run graphic intensive games and sims with narry a glitch. When "Phillpower2" had helped me prior, I had marked "Solved". I believe I will give it one more day before doing that. But all that aside, thank you for your help.
