My mid range gaming rig is about 6months old now. during that time I dont have any problems in my rig

 

But just today, I saw some weird issue about my heat sink.

 

First I keep having this CPU fan error when I boot sometimes. I check the fan and yes my heatsink is not turning on. I had to touch the fan a little and and push the blade side ways so that the blade will rotate and the heatsink will work. This doesnt happen before. I thought this wont happen again but it happens a lot of time today. This also happen for when my computer is on sleep mode. after waking it up I check the heatsink and its not rotating.

 

Second is that even though my fan is working for, I still have a boot error saying CPU fan error. Even after disable the CPU fan check on mother board the CPU fan error doesnt go away. 

 

 

Is there something wrong with my heat sink? Whats the problem here?

My CPU is

AMD FX 6300 6-core black edition 3.5GHz AM3+

 

Motherboard is

Asus M5A97 R2

 

HDD is

Seagate Barracuda HDD Internal Bare Drive 1TB 720 RPM

 

I dont have an SSD

 

PSU is

Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 552 Power Supply CX600M

 

 

GPU is

Gigabyte Radeon R9 270x 4096MB GDDR5 OC version

 

RAM is

Corsair 8G DDR3 1600MHz vengeance low profile

Download Speedfan and install it.  Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.  The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
If you are running on a vista machine, please go to where you installed the program and run the program as administrator.

 

 

Download then run HWMonitor and post a screenshot so that we have a comparison to the Speedfan results, details from here

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

I don't see any abnormal temp. for CPU or other parts.

 

Let's do this:

 

1. Please make sure the CPU FAN is installed on the right position of the motherboard and twist the screws tightly

2. Ensure that the CPU FAN cable is securely installed to the CPU_FAN connector instead of the CHA_FAN.

3. If you install the other brand of CPU FAN with lower revolutions speed, the system may not able to detect it correctly. You can try to set "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" to 200 RPM in BIOS configuration.

* "CPU Fan Speed Low Limit" appears only when you set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [DC Mode], [PWM Mode], and [Auto]. For those early versions, you need to set the CPU Q-Fan Control to [Enabled], [Advance Mode] or [Auto].

4. You can set Monitor->CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if you don't want to open the computer case.

*You can set CPU FAN Speed to [Ignore] if your computer coming with water cooling system without fan.
