Can you run the Laptop on battery power only and see if it restarts then ? I was concerned about the possibility of the ac adapter being defective, so I would like to try this.

Take the battery out and run it only with ac adapter

Next

Do you know how to take RAM out ? Should be a panel on the back of the Laptop with the RAM cards, take it all out except 1 module, then try 1 module at a time to see if restarting stops. Handel the ram carefully, discharge yourself by touching a doorknob before touching ram!

What's the make and model of the Laptop ?

OK,

Let me know how that goes and if no luck I'll need to see a speccy report..

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

I need to confirm the model for sure, I'll look in the report speccy and see if it's there.

The 7735 series has a possible BIOS issue that can cause the restarting

Why does my Acer Aspire 7735 series notebook restart randomly?
A timing issue in the notebook's BIOS may cause the system to restart unexpectedly. Updating the BIOS to version 2.00 or later addresses this timing issue and should resolve random restart issues. The latest BIOS for the Acer Aspire 7735 notebook can be downloaded from the Acer Drivers and Download page.
See here http://acer.custhelp...start-randomly?

Don't follow any instructions yet and don't up date the BIOS...

I want a Tech to look at this first before doing anything.

If you update the BIOS and the machine restarts in the middle we could end up with an unbootable computer.
