Tbh not too sure what normal is as i never use laptops, however it does get quite warm where the power supply is. All the vents look clear though.

Try a hardware reset sometimes this exercise fixes problems.

To do that,

shut down the computer, remove the AC Adapter, remove the battery  and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Replace the battery and or ac adapter and restart the Laptop.

Next

Chat with acer support professional.

http://us.acer.com/a...service-contact

See / ask if there is a possible BIOS issue with this model that causes "Restarting", that we know exists with the Acer Aspire 7735 series notebook.

Let me know  if they have anything to say.

Thanks

Joe :)

OK,

In the mean time is it possible to move it to a cooler location or put books on each side so air can flow underneath and even put a fan on it, just to see if any results are obtained by doing those things.

I'll be back later today, thanks for responding so quickly.

Joe

Hey,

Acer still haven't replied back to me unfortunately, however i managed to prop up the laptop and stick a powerful fan beneath it and it has been running for about 2 hours without restarting so far, So im guessing its a problem with the internal fan.  :upset:

We used the vac on the fan intake and it seems to be staying on now (3 hours and counting!), i think it just got clogged up with dust. my mother has had to take it back now as she needs it for her work.

Thank you so much for all your help! Hopefully shell look after it a little better now. Anything i should do to it to help her keep it clean from viruses etc.? I was thinking of updating it to windows 10 for her as i think it has better protection and easier to use.

Once again though thx for all the help, youve gone above and beyond just virus removal :D

Edit: Acer still never got back to me!

Hello,

Nice work with the fan !

I'm glad you got it working. Run a Malwarebytes scan once a week, always check the programs an features uninstall programs list for odd looking programs and uninstall them if found. Lots of adware installs there

Lot of people jumped on the Windows 10 up date  bandwagon. I don't suggest  it right now for mom..

I'll close this topic now in the usual manner....

You usually get infected because your security settings are too low.
