Hello Everyone!

 

I am thinking of upgrading my computer for gaming purposes, (the availiable  budget is 550E)

I have a build in mind and thought that asking your opinion would be a wise choice!

So these are the things I want to buy :

 

CPU:Intel Core i5-4590 Box

Ram: G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL9

Mainboard: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3, or MSI Z97 Gaming 5 , MSI Z97 Gaming 3 

HDD: Sandisk Extreme PRO SSD 240GB

 

I'd like to keep the psu, my other 2 HDDS, and the GPU

What do you say? Do you have anything to suggest? ( Help with the motherboard if everything else is ok)

Why the Z97 with a Non-K CPU?

 

All your boards you've selected have USB 3.0. Your case.. What is it? It's not mentioned in your primary post. Also, can you link to your PSU?

I don't know I just serached and found that z97 would be the most suitable for Intel Core i5-4590.

If you  know anything better, feel free to tell me !

 

PS: Do you think i should consider buying an unlocked CPU?

Sorry, I would have responded yesterday. But school is a pain :-).

 

The chip you currently have, the 4590, won't overclock. The benenfits of Overclocking can be great, but can also damage your CPU lifespan. In addition, using "other coolers" not provided in the box will void your warranty, for both Intel AND AMD. Keep that in mind. I personally do not overclock. I've had my system for almost 2 years now, and still see no need.

 

Ultimately, it's up to you, and what you want to do. I cannot make that choice for you. Let me know you're choice on whether you wish to OC, or not.

 

PS: keep in mind, if you buy a "k" chip, you don't HAVE to Overclock it. You can still leave it at Stock Speeds/voltages.

You think that it will be big difference if I buy a motherboard that doesnt support 1600+ ram

with a motherboard that does? Otherwise I might consider buying a better motherboard

Nothing you will notice. You MIGHT see a small difference, in content creation, with Long clips... But for the standard gaming load, and/or daily "driver" use (eg; web browsing, word etc), you won't notice anything.

 

edit: I run 1600MHz, and with the 3770, and the GTX 760, I can get pretty decent Frames playing BF4 on High-Ultra @ 1080p. (I usually play High, as Ultra can dip my FPS to ~30).

I missed something, that iammykyl pointed out to me in a Private Message. I can't believe I missed this.

 

Your OS, it's 32 Bit. meaning your Operating System will NOT see 8GB of RAM. It will see only 4GB. This is true for all versions of Windows 7/8/8.1/10 x86 (or 32 Bit).

It would make upgrading more-or-less useless to you.

 

He is also of the opinion ASRock is better suited as a MOBO.

Ah sorry my mistake I will format, my pc and install win 7 64bit, so It's ok xD

I am afraid of trusting Asrock, because I live in Greece and I might won't be able to replace it if anything goes wrong, ... So I wonder H97 or  Asrock ?? (Tha's the last question I promise )

H97 could also be a good choice as well. Just you won't be able to Overclock it, that's all. I can't really speak on behalf of (Any) company to be honest. iammkyl seems to trust them a lot though.

If I may pose a question to you, why would you not be able to return an DOA board in Greece? I would think if you received a damaged product (At all) you should be able to return it?

I haven't sent anything yet, But I live at an island far from Athens, I have to send the DOA products in Athens ( to the place I bought the product ) and then, wait from them to send the products to the company.. e.g ASUS in Czech Republic,

sometimes it takes too much time and that's a thing I'd like to avoid.

How old is this PSU?

 

Regarding the Etasis brand itself, not sure if they are made any more as I could find no up to date info on them, see my canned text below;

 

Please note that there is one thing that is possibly worse than using a known poor quality brand of PSU and that is using one that is unheard of, for brands of PSU to trust and brands to avoid please refer to the links in my sig.

Just a cautionary note, unless your OS disk is the full retail edition you cannot use it with a new MB as an OEM disk is tied to the original MB it was paired with, to use an OEM disk with a new MB is software piracy and therefore illegal.

 

Exceptions to the above are 1: If your MB is replaced under warranty and 2: If your MB is replaced out of warranty with an alternative type but same brand due to the original model no longer being available, an upgraded MB however will require the purchase of a new OS licence. 

 

If you have a full retail disk and a product key that is not in use on another computer the OEM restriction/s is/are not the same.
