This really helped a lot. I greatly appreciate your time on this crusty old bloke. I actually got so happy that I finally got the thing cleaned up (with your guidance) I did a lil happy dance and invited everyone to sit down and take her for a spin. Now, I'm searching all over the site for info on worms. Seems that we have a worm being spread around through emails. Any suggestions?

Suggestion #1

Download the following programs:

Spyware Doctor
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware SE
CleanUp!
TuneUp Utilities 2004
ZoneAlarm
AVG Antivirus (if you don't have one)


This will make jobs for malwares and such much more difficult!

Be sure to scan especially for spyware at least 1 every 2 -3 days if you regularly search the web.

p.s. suggestion on the worm: don't open mail from senders you don't know. Especially if the title is persuasive like: Hi, i found your pic on this site.../ I saw your name on this program ecc. Search with google about email worms and many sites will come up.

Just to make it easier for you:  Thanks, looked earlier but not getting a lot of helpful hints from google on whatever I have. Thanks for the ideas though.

you won't get it back if you don't open email attachments. Even if you receive 100 infected emails per day, you will not become infected if you simply delete them and do NOT open their attachments!!

True. But you can get infected if you 'preview' and have HTML enabled.
There are exploits that can get you that way, if you are not fully patched and firewalled.

I ran various programs that people offered up to me. I really can't remember the names. Some I got from my norton anti virus home page. I seem to of had the W32Mytob worm. Norton found it and led me to it's fix page, yet when I ran the fix it repoted I did not have it at all. Every thing I ran afterwards could not find it either. One of the other people in the company did have it on their system. We've had no more problems from it since a couple days after I posted my first post here about it. I think someone on the outside had it and somehow got it fixed without telling anyone but I'm a pc idiot, so what I think and $.89 will get you a cup of coffee and that's about it. Only thing I've had since then was an email that came through with no senders name and no subject but had an attachment. I deleted it immediately.....after turning off my preview pane first!

In almost 10 years of using pc's at work, and owning one for basically nothing more than entertainment these are the first viruses I've ever gotten. I've always had protection but mostly I've always been very selective in what I click on or what mail I open up.
